Expectations for Members:
- Learn and Practice Pedestrian Safety when you are walking. Develop safe walking habits for your own personal safety.
- Learn and Practice Pedestrian Safety when you are driving. Develop safer driving habits that protect pedestrians and increase pedestrian safety.
- Share information about the Little Neck Pedestrian Safety Group with others.
The Pedestrian Safety Pledge:
As a member of the Little Neck Pedestrian Safety Group, I pledge to drive safely and alertly, and commit to yielding to pedestrians as a driver. When I walk, I will pay attention to my surroundings and follow traffic signs, pedestrian signals, and street markings designed to protect pedestrians. I will also respect the “right of way” of vehicles indicated by traffic signs, signals, and street conditions.
Since we are a voluntary association of concerned citizens who come from various communities, we offer different membership categories based on your geographic location (where you call home).
The Membership Categories for the Little Neck Pedestrian Safety Group are:
- Local Members: Members who live in Douglaston or Little Neck, New York.
- New York City Members: Members who reside in Queens or New York City.
- Regional Members: Members who reside in New York State (outside of Queens or New York City) or New Jersey or Connecticut.
- Remote Members: Members who reside outside of the Tri-State region ( Outside of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut).
- Honorary Members: New York City or New York State Public Employees, Elected Officials, and active or retired members of the United States Armed Services.
- Corporate & Organizational Members: Businesses and organizations who commit to making Pedestrian Safety part of their regular employee health and wellness programs or ongoing communications.
